Supreme commander 35/20/2023 Many fond memories of me sneaking in an Atlantis full of 75 T3 gunships to the back of bases for a surprise gift. Six of us playing lan games on the weekend going against each other. I played this game all through college, living with 6 of my friends. How will this game run on the new Mac M1s? What if more PC manufactures move over to ARM chips for laptops? Apple is a trendsetter. Having an open-source game similar enough to love but different enough to not get a take-down notice would allow us to improve the game massively, launch it onto new platforms, and have it take advantage of the newest hardware. My computer is way better than 2007 but still. Even when I played this game for the first time in years last month I still couldn't play an 81X81 map. We could base it on the SpringRTS engine like many other games are based on (see BAR). We could improve so many things about this game if it were an open-source community project (see Battle for Wesnoth). Why not make an open-source successor to this game and get the community to switch over. They even made a new faction! But why? I'm pretty sure that SquareEnix owns the IP for this game because of SupCom2 or maybe its THQ? Whoever owns it doesn't seem to care to make a new game so we're stuck with this 13yr old game that we update by making patches though mods. It is so impressive what they've done with FAF since I joined them like years ago. I discovered Gyle Casts on YT and was astounded that people still play this game! Then I was sad. First RTS I played, can't really play any others, hated SupCom2. Friend of mine gave me the beta to play with him while were in college.
